Embracing Homesteading in Small Town Texas
Having the ultimate homestead in Texas with a French farmhouse flair is its own kind of magic—a mix of wide-open skies, rustic charm, and the satisfaction of building a life with your own two hands. Our little farm is growing piece by piece; from the lush gardens we tend at sunrise to the cheerful chickens and overly dramatic ducks who keep us entertained all day long.
What makes this lifestyle even sweeter is weaving in those soft, elegant touches of French farmhouse style—light colors, cozy textures, and timeless details that turn everyday chores into something peaceful and inviting. It’s a blend of practicality and beauty, where hard work meets quiet moments. And where our home feels both lived-in and lovingly curated.
This is Texas homesteading with a hint of French elegance—warm, welcoming, and rooted in simple joy.
Daily Life on the Farm
Farm life revolves around caring for our pets and plants while maintaining a sense of balance and beauty. From the early morning clucks of our chickens to the gentle quacking of ducks while paddling in the water, every moment is filled with life. Alongside this, our focus on gardening allows us to grow fresh vegetables and herbs that highlights our meals. Learning to bake organic sourdough bread has become a delicious and rewarding endeavor. Sharing these experiences with the kids adds richness to our lives. So much so we opened our own microbakery here in our small town, but more on that later!

Homesteading and Home Aesthetics
One of my favorite parts of this entire homesteading adventure is how it gives me an excuse to blend in those soft, elegant touches of French farmhouse charm wherever I can get away with it. Mixing cozy home décor with a grandmillennial twist not only beautifies our space but also enhances our homesteading experience. Using vintage finds (I love to thrift!) and heirloom pieces creates a warm atmosphere where family moments thrive. The pale colors, worn wood and cozy linens are the things that make even the most basic chores feel a little less like “work” and a little more like a slow, peaceful ritual.
Simple Texas homesteading with a French farmhouse twist shows how sustainable living can have style, practicality, and beauty. There’s something magical about how a rustic table, a vintage basket, or a dainty little ceramic dish can turn feeding the chickens or prepping sourdough into a moment that actually feels…well, lovely. Every piece has a purpose, and every corner whispers a reminder that simple living can still be beautiful.

Finding Joy in Simply Living
At its core, this life is a beautiful mix of grit, grace and the good kind of chaos. The kind of quiet moments you don’t realize you’ve been craving until you finally slow down long enough to notice them. It’s the early mornings spent working hard, followed by evenings where the sky sets itself on fire just to show off. Learning to savor the tiny things—like the how life seems slower, or the way everyone somehow ends up laughing while wrangling animals who absolutely did not agree to the day’s plan.
This way of living nudges you to strip away the noise and lean into simplicity, but never in a boring way. It reconnects you to the nature, to yourself, and to the rhythm of a life that actually feels grounded. Every corner of the home ends up holding a little story, a little warmth, and a whole lot of heart. And somehow, even the chores—yes, even the messy, sweaty, “why is this chicken judging me?” chores—carry a sense of purpose that makes it all feel worth it.
It’s a welcoming life, one stitched together with love, laughter, and a steady appreciation for the world right outside the door. With a focus on lifestyle content, I aim to inspire readers to embrace both homestead tips and design ideas, fostering a greater appreciation for the simple joys of life on a family farm.
